Attorney Sam J. D’Amico went quietly in his sleep at his Baton Rouge residence 8:30 a.m., Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 95.  He shared his legal wisdom and knowledge through his final days.  Visitation for Mr. D’Amico will at Rabenhorst Funeral Home. 

He was born June 26, 1914 in Mix, Louisiana on False River.  He graduated from Poydras High School and Louisiana State University Law School in 1938.  Mr. D’Amico began his practice of the law in St. Francisville and subsequently moved his practice to Baton Rouge where he practiced for the last 70 years.  He was an active member of the legal community and widely recognized for his professionalism and legal expertise.  Mr. D’Amico’s contributions to the community were never ending.

Sam D’Amico is preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, his wife, Marie D’Amico, his second wife, Sarah D’Amico, his daughter, Sammye D’Amico Segura, his son-in-law, Camille J. Russo, his daughter-in-law, Dorothy D’Amico, two grandchildren, John Kyle Ransome, Shawn Segura and one great grandchild, Madison Maggio.   He is survived by his sister, Josephine Pocorello, his children, James D’Amico, married to Erika D’Amico, Daniel D’Amico, Grace Russo, Marie Ransome, Sallie Segura, married to Charles F. Segura, Sr., Suzette D’Amico and Sam J. D’Amico, Jr., married to Carole D’Amico, twenty-four (24) grandchildren,  great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and the many other people Mr. D’Amico considered his family and friends.  His achievements were many.  He was given special support and love by his caretakers, Amanda McCaffery and Katie Dupuy.
